What we promise

Updated October 18, 2026.

Four promises, each with what is true today and how you can check it. Where a promise is not finished, the page says so.

No surprise billing

  • Starting costs nothing and needs no card: the email client is free for one inbox, and every new account gets all of Pro free for 21 days with no card. There is nothing to cancel, so there is nothing that can charge you when the trial ends.
  • Pro is one yearly plan, $29/year. There is no monthly option and no tier above it, so there is no upgrade to be moved into by accident.
  • You upgrade, manage billing and cancel yourself, in Settings, then Plan. Cancelling keeps Pro until the end of the period you paid for, then the account goes to Free. Nothing is deleted when it does: extra inboxes pause and come back when you subscribe.
  • Card details go to our payment provider, Polar, and never reach Donezo Inbox.

How a refund is asked for and decided, what a cancel does and when, and what happens to seats on a team are written down on the billing promises page, which is the one to rely on.

Your data can leave, and nothing locks you in

Your mailbox is never with us, so it cannot be held back: it lives in your Gmail (or Microsoft or IMAP) account, under your own address and domain, and Donezo Inbox is a client for it. Stop using the app and your mail is exactly where it was. The only things the app adds to your mailbox are Gmail labels, all under one parent called Donezo, which you can delete in Gmail. See everything we do store.

  • Settings, then Accounts, then Export my data gives one JSON file of everything we store about you (settings, rules, snippets, Knowledge Base notes, inbox-zero counts, plan, team memberships, scheduled sends, audit entries about you), or single tables as CSV for rules, snippets, notes, counts and audit. It is built when you ask and nothing is kept. The file says what is not in it: your email (we do not keep it), anything that works as a password, and other people's words.
  • Claude and Codex can reach the same mailboxes through the connector (MCP), with links you make and revoke in Settings. Reading, searching and drafting through it are free on every plan. Your own scripts can use the REST API with personal keys (read-only or read-write), which is part of Pro. Either way, moving your work somewhere else never needs us to say yes.
  • Delete my data, in the same place, removes everything about you and revokes our access to your accounts. Export first if you want a copy.

What we cannot promise: that another email app will read our export. The file is plain, documented JSON (format name donezo-inbox-export, version 1), but nobody else has a reason to import it yet.

A speed budget, with measured numbers

The app enforces four targets in its own performance overlay (add ?perf to the address), measured from the key press to the screen being updated. The numbers below were measured on October 18, 2026 with the scripts in the repository, on one Mac, against a demo mailbox and a synthetic one of 10,000 conversations. They are not a promise about your computer or your connection.

Budgets and what was measured on October 18, 2026
WhatBudgetMeasuredHow
Open a conversation already on this deviceunder 50 msMessage card and Reply buttons on screen after 40 ms from memory and 54 ms from local storage; first line of text after 69 ms and 74 ms. Opening the next one with J after read-ahead: 26 ms and 51 ms. From local storage that is just over the budget in this run. With the processor slowed four times and Gmail slowed too: 199 ms from memory.npm run perf:open, median of 5, development build, demo mailbox
Go back to a conversation you just leftnone setMessage card after 27 ms, first line of text after 34 ms, with its height already known so nothing jumps.npm run perf:open, scenario reopen, median of 5
Archive and land on the next conversationunder 30 msNot re-measured for this page. The earlier figure in the repository was about 7 to 10 ms from a scripted key press in the demo, and 57 to 61 ms from a real key press in a browser pane that spends about 54 ms drawing a single row move.README, Speed section (earlier measurement)
Search as you type, 10,000 conversations on this deviceunder 50 msMedian 2.4 to 5.2 ms per search across nine kinds of query, 95th percentile up to 8.6 ms, slowest 9.6 ms.npm run bench, Node, synthetic mailbox, 25 runs per query
Open a conversation nobody has read aheadnone setMessage card after 764 ms and first line of text after 891 ms, with Gmail slowed by 150 to 400 ms per call and the processor slowed four times. Most of that wait is Gmail's, which no email app can remove.npm run perf:open, scenario cold, median of 5

Size: the main app script of a production build made on October 18, 2026 is 473 KB (151 KB gzipped), and its stylesheet 201 KB (40 KB gzipped). The screens you do not open on day one load when first asked for.

What the numbers leave out: Gmail's own latency, which the browser cannot speed up (opening a conversation that was not read ahead waits for Gmail), real keyboards, and phones. Phone measurements are kept separately in the repository's mobile performance notes and are not repeated here.

Support from a person, within one business day

Donezo Inbox is run by its founder, Ankur Shrestha, and he answers support email himself: ankur@kmfv.cc. We aim to reply within one business day. That is a target we hold ourselves to, not a contractual service level, and there is no support bot standing between you and a person. If we miss it, write again and say so.

For a security issue, see security. For who we are, see about.

Questions

Will I be charged when the free trial ends?

No. The 21-day Pro trial needs no card, so nothing can be charged. When it ends the account goes to Free unless you subscribe.

Can I take my data with me?

Yes: Settings, Accounts, Export my data gives everything we store as JSON or CSV. Your mail itself never leaves your own mail account.

Who answers support?

The founder, by email, aiming for one business day.
